How to fix battery on ipod touch?

I’ve had my iPod touch for two months. About a week ago my power button started malfunctioning, sometimes it would randomly turn my iPod touch off, and other times it wouldn’t work at all. But when I charge it, it works while I’m charging, but not when I’m charging it. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

So does anyone have a refurbished “certified new” iPod mini?

My ipod loses it batteries and it skips songs, so I took it to the apple store and they said they need to replace it with a “certified new” ipod. They said that they get old ipod parts and reassemble them to make a “certified new” one.
I have to pick it up tommorow so I was wondering:
Did that happen to anyone else, if so does your “certified new” one work?
I’m afriad that it’s gonna be worse than the one I have now =[

The website only has 1st generation right now, so I was wondering if anyone knew when Apple was planning on selling the 2nd generations. Also how much would they be? You don’t have to have an exact answer, I was just thinking from the past what has the time and price been.
