How can I fix the slicer at my job?

I work at a subway and we are having trouble with the slicer. Its hand cranked and there is this piece of metal poking through. When ever it makes contact with our slider or the thing we use to push the vegetables, it slows you down and warps the size. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
